I've always liked games and movies where a writer is the main character. This could be one of the symptoms of loving writing, or because they're always more interesting than black cops sinking boats on highways, but either way, they've always grabbed my attention. Hence why I like a fair amount of Stephen Kings work. I remember looking some stuff on King years ago in 05 and found that he was partially an inspiration for a game called Alan Wake, a game about a writer who goes to a small town with his wife to write, and then she disappears. Now one of his books is coming to life, word for word (Cliché I'm told, but I honestly don't know anything that's done that before). The trailer looked incredibly cool, graphically it was awesome and it was made by the guys who did Max Payne, whose story was fantastically written, and presented in a unique and awesome manner. Then there was no news on Alan Wake. In fact, the game went utterly silent until 09. I thought it had been secretly cancelled. Turns out it's coming out. Anyone else looking forward to the game, and getting the collectors edition which comes with a short story written by 'Alan Wake'?

That's because it was first announced when you were about 10, and then not heard from until late last year. I was half afraid it had gone the way of Duke Nukem Forever....only quieter.

2 webisodes are available for dl on the Xbox Live market place. The first one was . . . weird. But maybe that's because I don't know hardly anything about the game, besides the town is called Bright Falls.

Alan Wake is pretty good so far biggrin.gif. The graphics and scenery are very beautiful. Story, and TV-Like episodes are a lotta fun too.

So...Alan Wake arrived today. I spent a good half the day looking down the driveway for the delivery guy to drop it off. And I get the collectors Edition (Extra ten bucks here, woot!). Came in a wicked book like box, with the soundtrack and bonus disc (Probably marketing stuff and such on it) in a case, game in a seperate case, and The Alan Wake Files, which include interviews with some game characters, a short story and first chapter of a novel by Alan Wake and a bunch of other, incredibly immersive, stuff. Now I'm gonna go play the game I've been waiting for since at least 2005...

Not a very long game...I pretty much ran through it and beat it...Oh well, still really good!

Then I decided that I could make a .gif and animate it! Two and a half episodes through. So far, loving it. Some great voice acting, even if the mouth animations occasionally look a little....weird. Plot is weirdly awesome, and from a person that likes to writes' perspective, is fudging amazing.

I don't think it was short. I just beat it. Usually a game takes me a day n a half to beat. This took me 3 days.

Very, very good game. Can't wait for the episode coming out in July (seeing as how there episodes are actually long and time consumeing).

Length depends on multiple things. How long to complete the main game, side/collection missions, time spent wandering around aimlessly and sometimes just sheer fudging about. MW2 is a perfect example. That game can take 4 hours to complete. Sometimes it can take about six/seven hours by simply moving through areas slower, being more thorough, so on so forth. I'm not sure how far I'm through it, but I got to episode 3 in a little over three hours.

So you could have spent more time fudging around, while Trumpet could have speed-played it.

I did actually watch some of those "Night Springs" episodes, and listened to the radios.

Plus, i did get catched up in t.v. shows the past 2 days.

Our internet has been whacked for the last few days, so I had an episode of Lost, 24, SGU and Doctor Who to get. managed to get Fringe just before it took its drugs. Also, last episode of Fringe FUDGING ROCKED!

Back on topic. Gone through the coal mine, going through Ghost Town in ep 3 (Still...this is a long one). While walking over some broken railway tracks, Darkness takes over some random objects and attacks me. Before3 that, though, it lifts up one of the objects and starts shuddering menacingly. It was a fridge. First time in the game, full immersion was removed and replaced with "Oh shizzle! It's an evil fridge!". Was so awesome.

The day it came out, I had nothing to do that day. Nobody was available to hang out with and my friend had it so I went to his house and we stayed up just playing it. And as I played it I wrote that review, technically I didn't beat it before I posted it, but I went far enough and then read the ending....so it was great.

This game is still amazing. Just found out that in the Extras section, you can listen to the radios, watch cut scenes and even the music from the game, including the 80s metal one during the coolest action scene in a game ever. With a dragon! (You know...trying not to spoil the plot and all)

The Signal DLC comes out tomarrow. I think it's free (says IGN), and they also gave it a score of 9 saying that it's twisted.

Free? Maybe if you got the Collectors Edition (Can't wait!), not sure about everyone else.
