Just a quick community update: several people have noticed some familiar tunes coming from some YouTube videos recently. It's true, several videos from HookedGamers.com have asked for and received permission to use music from The Codex and The Heretic in their title sequences. There's some good stuff there, with some good coverage of E3. Here are some examples for your viewing pleasure:
Marvel Vs. Capcom 3
Dead Rising 2
Vanquish
LittleBigPlanet 2
Enslaved: Odyssey to the West
We don't tend to announce this sort of thing on our site, but we've been receiving some indications of interest from the community and we decided to spread the word. Check out the videos above, and more on HookedGamers.com! |

The Catacombs |

Big news for our advertisers today. We here at Edgeworks HQ have been working for a while now on a custom, in-house stats tracking system called The Catacombs, which allows us to track site and forum activity, as well as analyze it automatically. It's a great system, and very helpful when planning future projects and initiatives.
Well today we are opening a part of that system up for the public, specifically the Ads tracker. Starting today, our advertisers can log in to a special section of the site, using their already-familiar Forum user accounts, and get up-to-the-second statistics and analysis of the performance of their ads, as well as a way to create new ads and renew ads that are coming to the end of their lives. Which brings me to the next change: the ad payment system. Rather than the clunky old "$20 a month" system we were using before, which didn't take into account changing traffic patterns or the number of ads being displayed, we are now working on the standard CPM system, wherein advertisers pay for a certain number of pageviews for their ad. This system allows for much greater flexibility for the system as a whole, as well as much greater reliability for our advertisers.
This is a quantum leap forward for the advertising system of EdgeworksEnt.com, and we're confident that our advertisers will agree. So if you've been thinking about setting up an ad on EdgeworksEnt.com but you've been holding back, now's the time to do it. Go check it out! |

Fixing A Broken Window |

Hey, everyone, a quick update: we have received messages from several Windows users who were getting distorted images when trying to play the new Radical teaser natively in Windows 7. Turns out Windows has a hard time with 16:9 pixels, and was displaying them as 4:3. Leaving out any discussion of whether Windows can really claim the ability to run Quicktime videos natively at all, I am happy to announce that we have fixed the problem and re-uploaded new copies for those of you who need them.
Those of you who saw no distortion in the first place can go on merrily about your day.
In other news, the Radical Facebook page has been consistently and rapidly growing, and our Radical podcast has been getting quite a bit of attention as well. That is nothing, however, compared to the view and download statistics our new in-house stats tracking system has been showing for the Announcement Teaser itself. We're very excited about the activity this teaser has kicked up, and we're confident we can keep cranking up the excitement all the way to the premiere!
More on that later... |

A couple of updates for those of you who like feeds: we now have an iTunes podcast that you can subscribe to, which will automatically download new Radical episodes into your iTunes library as soon as they are released, listed in the Links sidebox. We'd love to have your comments on the podcast page, and be sure to send the link to anyone you think would like it: the more people who subscribe, the more visibility the podcast will get.
And, on the text side of things, we have a Radical RSS feed, available from the RSS link at the top-right of the Radical front page, which will include all news from the series as well as company-wide news like new series premieres, etc. This feed is also being mirrored on the Radical Facebook page, so you can keep up with us there as well.
As production ramps up for the series, we will be releasing more information and content through these feeds, so be sure to stay tuned! |

Edgeworks is Back |

When I woke up this morning, I noticed that there was already a thread about this being February 9th, the anniversary of Edgeworks Entertainment's founding. It's true, February 9th has come again, and this time is marks the fifth year since this community began. Five years! That's hard to believe. The release of The Codex, the announcement and release of The Heretic, the release of Vox Populi, this date has seen some big events for our community. So what have we cooked up this year, I wonder?
Well, we recently moved to a new hosting plan, which will ensure that Edgeworks can keep functioning for a long time to come. We've also got too many site updates to name, most prominently the move toward a custom MySQL database for Edgeworks content that will make updating the site much more efficient, as well as providing in-house stats tracking and customization.
Is your blood pumping yet? Are you totally stoked and jumping for joy about the back-end architecture changes to the Edgeworks site? No? Ok, well let's see if we can do one better...
Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls of all ages, I have an announcement to make. Today, February 9th, 2010, Edgeworks Entertainment is unveiling a brand new, completely original, live-action webseries called Radical. And what's more, we've got a teaser for you. In fact, we've got a teaser, a desktop, three avatars, a media page, and a whole new site section and forum section for you to explore! We also have a Facebook page you can become a fan of, and an iTunes podcast will be up soon. There's enough new content to keep anyone busy for a good long while, and there's more on the way.
Over the next few weeks and months we'll be posting more news and content, as well as merchandise and sponsorship options for those who are so inclined. We're aiming to begin full production later this spring, and we will be announcing a release date for the first episode around then as well. In the meantime go watch the teaser, go check out the desktops and the production stills, but most of all, go spread the word:
Edgeworks is back. |
